Mrs Laban is a warm and hospitable woman. She quickly befriends sister Lottte and later Hanna during their frequent visits of mayor Wöller. Unlike her boss she is emotional and sensitive and struggles to detach herself from her feelings. She dislikes the dirty games of politics, but isn‘t above using manipulation and guilt tripping her boss to her benefit on occasions. Mrs Laban is quite concerned about her reputation and how others view her, taking pride in her job at the chief secretary and enjoys getting attention from other men, having many affairs and romances throughout the show.
Auxiliary Function: Si
Marianne is contend with her life the way it is and doesn‘t see a point in changing it. While she often butts heads with Mayor Wöller, she stays in his office anyways. She also enjoys small traditi9ns and rituals, like giving the mayor his daily cheese cake or drinking her coffee in the morning and becomes anxious when these routines aren‘t appreciated by those around her. She is also very detail oriented and meticulous, often grounding Wöller with his great schemes and remind him of the daily, bureaucratic realities.
Tertiary Function: Ne
Marianne enjoys Lotte‘s and later Hanna‘s free spirited nature and often helps them with their idealistic plans. While she herself is more grounded, she is still open minded about their plans and often try’s to aid them to realize their ideas in a practical way. Mrs Laban can also be somewhat gullible and superstitious at times, getting herself caught away by whimsical words and promises, but she quickly grounds herself. While she appreciates new ideas and occasional change, she struggles with producing it herself and often needs the advise of Hanna, when she is stuck in the mud.
Inferior Function: Ti
Marianne is a woman that is guided by her emotions. She has a arm and motherly nature, but this can sometimes be taken advantage of. While able to manipulate others herself, she is quite naive to others sugar coating and seducing her, often only recognizing it when it’s to late. Mrs Laban prefers to follow her heart, which causes her to sometimes don‘t think things though until the end. When under stress, she becomes uncharacteristically critical and anxious about the smallest problems, needing help to find back to her calm and friendly nature.
