Sokka is rational and pragmatic, believing in facts and proven since, but isnsceptical of anything mystical, unproven and irrational.
Auxiliary Function: Si
Sokka has a strong sense of pride in his tribe and the way of his people. When he is young, he does everything to be seen as the ideal warrior, trying to fit the societal ideals of a man in his society. He sees this ideal as embodied by his father Hakoda and trys to win his respect at all coasts. He is old fashioned and sentimental in many of his views and at first struggles when the things he experiences don‘t fit in with his worldview. At first he is highly sceptical of his sister being a bender and warrior, taking it for granted that she plays a motherly role for him and the rest of the family and only engages herself in girly things. He also can‘t believe that the Kiyoshi warrioirs largely consist of females, as he can‘t see girls as warriors…
Tertiary Function: Ne
Later on Sokka reflects on this views, becoming more open minded and embracing his goofy side. He learns to see that not all fire nation citizens are evil and is among the first to forgive Zuko and appreciate his changed ways. He also starts valuing Suki‘s and Katara’s feminine strength and learns to see them as equals. Sokka is quick thinking and highly inventive, often aiding the team with his ideas and creative genius to make up for his lack of bending abilities. Sokka also loves playing detective, coming up with bizarre theories about why things happened the way they did, which are more than often proved wrong later on. Overall Sokka is quite curious about the world around him, but at times fails to consider possible consequences of his action, like when he drinks juice from an exotic plant that later causes him to hallucinate.
Inferior Function: Fi
Sokka normally represses his more sensitive side in order to appear confident and masculine. Still one can see his sensitive side, especially in his relationships with Yue and Suki. He is highly protective of those closest to him and does everything in his power to prevent them from being harmed. Sokka overall becomes more able to recognize his own goofy side and eccentricities and is able to value them in others too. Instead of trying to living up to an external ideal, he learns to appreciate the unique personalities and strengths of his friends.
