Functional Order: Te/Ni/Se/Fi
Dominant Function: Te
Out of all those involved in the heist, Berlin is the one most focused on staying true to the Professors plan. Berlin is always collected and focused on getting the task done, never allowing himself or others to get distracted from their end goal. He also plans every little step in advance and gets furious when thinks don‘t work as he intended, being known for being a notorious control freak among the other participants in the heist. During the operation Berlin naturally comes the groups inofficial leader, taking matters into his own hands and reigning through fear and domination. When a hostage try to flee or Tokyo questions his orders, he is prone to taking bold and often cruel meassures to eliminate any thread to the success of the operation.
Auxiliary Function: Ni
Berlin is a skilled manipulator, because of his ability to predict how others will react to his words. He knows when to treat the hostages with kindness and when to intimidate them to make them always stay in place. When the public opinion on the heist is low, Berlin knows how to regain peoples sympathies by inscenating himself and the other robbers, as a sort of revolutionary partisan figure, being aware of the symbolical nature of this image, and knowing how to present himself to communicate this very idea. Just like his brother Sergio, Berlin is also highly educated and takes delight in the professors cultural references and use of symbolism during the heist. While he at times behaves quite hedonistic, Berlin has always one end goal in mind, which is succeeding with the operation, a goal for which he literally sacrifices his life for.
Tertiary Function: Se
Berlin awaits his coming death, with a stoic calmth, just accepting the fact of his nearing demise and trying to live life to the fullest. On of his biggest reasons for participating in the heist is actually that he enjoys the thrill of playing a cat and mouse game with the police. Berlin also has an appreciation for the finer things in life - he enjoys good vine, classical music and living a life in wealth. While he is normally calm and collected he can act impulsive and shortsighted under stress and resort to very drastic and often violent methods to meet his ends. As his Se is somewhat childish he tends to quickly get outplayed during direct physical confrontation, being overhelmed by a sudden attack he didn‘t see coming.
Inferior Function: Fi
Berlin is an unhealthy ENTJ and for Most of the time appears to be an emotionless and immoral psyhopath. While he at times appears like he doesn‘t have any feelings at all, he has a hidden sensitive side. As it is later revealed Berlin was way more vulnerable and romantic in the past, but due to past heartbreak, he surpressed this part of him. Still he shows care towards a selected few, like his brother Sergio or one of the hostages he takes a liking in. While a great manipulator himself, he is surprsingly suspectible towards others seductions and struggles with empathizing with others perspectives. Like when he seriously believes Adriana would be willing to be his wife, after everything he did to her. His lack of Fi, and struggles with acting authentic and showing empathy also makes him quite unpopular with his crewmates and the hostages alike. This lack of emotional awareness even leads to the others robbers planning a coup against him. On the rare instances when he shows his Fi it is mostly unhealthy. Under stress he is prone to emotional outbursts and struggles to control his temper, releasing all the emotions he bottled up for so long in quite destructive ways. On a positive note his Fi also gives him a sense of personal morality: he won‘t involve in human trafficing of sexual prostitution of minors and gets furious when falsley accused of doing so.
