Lord of the Rings: Eowyn (ISFP)

Functional Axis: Fi/Se/Ni/Te

Dominant Function: Fi

When asked by Aragorn what she fears the most, she answers a cage. What she fear the most is being restricted in her individuality and independence. She is a fierce individualist, a woman not bound by the societal prejudices of her time. She is firm in her principles, but on a constant search for self improvement, deeply emotional and romantic, but calm and blunt on the surface.

Auxilliary Function: Se

She wants to give practical aid to the soldiers by impulsively riding into battle, not just standing at the sidelines. Moreover she is often quite impulsive and acts on her feelings rather than any long term planning. She is elegant and refined, but also earthy compared to more ethereal female figures like Arwen or Galadriel.

Tertiary Function: Ni

Eowyn senses that there is more to Aragorn than what meets the eye and is sure that he will find his way to greatness. Still she is not free of doubts. She seeks to find her vision and singleminded wishes to die in glory on the battlefield until realizing in the end that she dreams of being a healer, not a fighter.

Inferior Function: Te

Eowyn has good use of her inferior Te being quite commanding and forceful if needed. Still she often prioritizes her personal feelings and worriers over her duties, or the more effective decisions Wishing not to be restricted by others.
